In today's Scoop Du Jour I have decided to answer a number of fantasy football questions that I have received via e-mail or caught on RealGM's own fantasy football forum.
For those of you who also happen to be NBA fans, make sure you enter the special RotoHog contest featuring Toronto's Chris Bosh.
What stats (i.e. 4 pts for a thrown touchdown, 6 pts for a receiving/rushing TD) did you use for QB, RB, WR, TE, K and Defense to make your rankings?
-Aaron, MA
I have always played in touchdown-heavy leagues, so in my ratings I count each score as six points no matter who happens to reach the end zone. That is why Tom Brady ranks so high, sixth, on my list. With that said, I award 0.1 of a point per rushing/receiving yard and 0.05 points per passing yard.
How do you feel about Jonathon Stewart? Can he be a feature back? I was on the cusp, and I wanted to pull the trigger, but instead went with Fred Taylor in my draft. What would you have done?
-Chris, CT
This is a tough one, because neither will be featured, but I think I'd go with Stewart nine times out of ten. Taylor is getting old and has rarely been injury-free through an entire season. Stewart has youth and potential on his side and appears to even have an edge over incumbent DeAngelo Williams at this point.
Who wins this trade? Brian Westbrook and Correll Buckhalter for Marion Barber, Felix Jones, and DeSean Jackson.
-deltaeagle, RealGM
What I notice right away is that Lorenzo Booker could end up being Westbrook's backup over Buckhalter. Westbrook is the best player, but I like the three-player package better. You'd have both the Dallas running backs and a very talented rookie receiver in Jackson. With Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown hurting in Philadelphia, Jackson could be a high number-three, low number-two option at receiver.
What do you see as the dangers of having a quarterback/wide receiver tandem on your fantasy roster? Are there benefits?
-FARMERMAN10, RealGM
I have never been a fan of drafting a quarterback and wide receiver from the same team, unless the receiver happens to be a backup or reserve. It's better to roll the dice with two different offenses than put all your eggs in a single basket. Peyton Manning/Reggie Wayne and Tom Brady/Randy Moss are probably the only two combinations that I'd even consider.
Check out my latest Fantasy Football Rankings (V 4.0) over on our NFL page. I spent a good number of time compiling these rankings, and I used them as my cheat sheet for each of my five leagues.
